    THE VOCALISTS

Kelvin Kong     Lead Vocalist & Trumpeter

    Picture
Kelvin started out with jazz as a trumpeter, and eventually got spotted for his amazing voice. As he continued his love affair with jazz, Kelvin sang and played trumpet for corporate events and concerts - and also taking stage at the illustrious Harry's pub along Boat Quay.

Despite the immersion into jazz, Kelvin has also explored different genres of music to expand his understanding of the instrument. He now plays in a 9-piece vinyl funk band, the Lion City Orchestra, which does a regular monthly gig at Blu Jazz, and is one of the principal horn players in local hip-hop R&B band Sixx, recently billed as one of the international acts at the prestigious KL Sunburst Festival.

As of 2009, Kelvin has been part of The Summertimes Big Band, a foray back to the roots from which he came. Joining the band as a trumpeter, he has instead taken up another passion that the music has taught him - vocals. As male lead vocal of the Summertimers, Kelvin is set to become a fixture in this group which is fast taking the scene by storm as one of the hottest big bands to watch out for and dance to.

       Dawn Wong     Vocalist

    Picture
With a vast-lingual ability of repertoire, Dawn has been much popular among most communities. A very versatile vocalist who performs regularly  in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, Japanese, Spanish and French, the young vocal starlet is beginning to take prominent stages and occasions - having performed  for dignitaries, such as President S R Nathan, Princess of Sweden to name a couple, and on national television - for MediaCorp Channel U's Project Superstar II and the broadcast giant's  biggest annual affair - MediaCorp Festival 2010.

Much known for her clean, composed and charismatic high registers, Dawn has also been active in doing her part for philanthropic projects to raise funds and awareness for disaster relief - amidst her numerous collaborations with organizations, such as the Singapore Red Cross and Singapore Chamber of Commerce, and prominent local artists Tay Kewei and Emma Yong.

Dawn continues to perform for both private and public events, and could be seen at the stages of Wala Wala, Harry's and The Esplanade.

       Joanna Dong     Vocalist

    Picture
Joanna is no stranger to the local music scene. Over the years, this versatile young singer has established herself as one of the most talented and sought-after vocalists in Singapore, with a repertoire that reaches across all of a possible crowd.

Effectively bilingual, Joanna has been actively involved in both English and Mandarin musicals such as Forbidden City, Liao Jai Rocks, Do Not Disturb and as one of the two lead roles in the recent run of 881 The Musical. In 2008, Joanna was awarded the Best Supporting Actress at ST Life! Theatre Awards for her role in Mandarin musical hit If There're Seasons.

      Annie Winson   Lead Vocalist

    Picture
Annie has been performing and singing music in orchestras and choirs since she was big enough to see the conductor over the music stand. Having made the transition from her pure classical training to jazz and more contemporary music, she has been impressing audiences with her powerful voice.

From classical to jazz to a-capella, Annie's voice has stood out as much for its quality as for the obvious joy she takes in entertaining. It doesn't hurt either that the power and texture she can get into her voice makes her an extremely versatile performer.

The control that she maintains enables her to produce big vocals with softness and expression at gigs large and small. Upon arrival to Singapore, Annie quickly tracked down Summertimes and made her first appearance with them at the SPH 'Gift of Music' concert series before Christmas 2010 where she was well-received by the full-house of audiences on both evenings. Annie has since been on a roll of engagements, and is still very much enjoying herself with the bunch of Summertimes boys.

       Tay Kexin     Vocalist

    Picture
Often described as a petite powerhouse, Kexin has been garnering a following in the local music scene since her first solo act at Sentosa's Jazz by the Beach 2008.

Her experience has been a delightful musical sojourn, singing for dignitaries ,such as President S.R. Nathan, and international events, including the Asian Youth Olympic Games 2009 and at the APEC CEO Summit 2009.

Also a familiar face on local stages, Kexin's fluent ability across a magnanimous repertoire of pop and jazz classics explains her regular appearance at The Esplanade stages and countless of other events.

Joining the band in November 2010, the youngest member took the vocal helm at the band's most recent MediaCorp engagements - including the opening act of MediaCorp Festival 2010 and at the Elle Awards 2010.
